Free La Semana Registration
If You Can Store Our Trailer!
(It'll fit in your garage!)
To save money, La Semana is purchasing a small trailer
(saving significantly over renting pods) for the
Corazon Latino Dance Troupe. However, we need an interior location
in or near the Twin Cities metro area to store it. The trailer is
small enough to fit in a residential garage stall. If you've got space, La
Semana would gladly provide you with a free family registration for next year's
La Semana in exchange for a nice home for our trailer.
Please contact the Jim at jimstromberg@gmail.com or the webmaster at webmaster@lasemana.org for more information.
About La Semana
La Semana is a week long culture camp for children adopted from Latin America and their
families. It includes a variety of age-appropriate activities designed to promote self-esteem
and foster an understanding of Latin American culture and history.
The children learn
Latin crafts and dances, try Latin foods, hear Latin music and are exposed to written
and spoken Spanish.
There is also plenty of time for campers to have fun and make
friends. It quickly becomes a summer tradition for many families.
La Semana (Spanish for "The Week") is open to children from elementary through
high school and draws families from across the United States and Canada. 448 campers attended in 2007. Be sure to register early because many classes fill up.
La Semana 2009 will be held from Monday August 3rd through Friday August 7th from
9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The camp culminates with a Fiesta on Friday where
all the campers dress in traditional costumes and perform dances learned during
the week.
Each year a different country of influence is studied. This year it is Bolivia.
