Volunteering at La Semana
La Semana has been successful due to the volunteer efforts of the families of children attending the camp. All camp programs are planned and executed by the families involved. There are generally fewer than seven paid teachers for more than 400 campers. To encourage participation, we require a parent of all kindergarten through tenth grade campers to volunteer in some capacity, and camp fees are based on the amount of volunteer help provided. Please carefully consider the time your family is able to spend on camp-related activities. The coordinators need to know that their volunteers will be able to fulfill their assigned responsibilities.
When registering your child(ren) for camp, you will be asked to indicate your volunteer job preferences. Please go to our Job Descriptions page to learn more about the available jobs.
A limited number of volunteer positions are available outside of camp week and those positions are filled based on when registrations are received. Please be aware of this when scheduling job-related activities or other appointments during camp week. Failure to fulfill a volunteer commitment could jeopardize your child's registration in future years.
Families who have only Senior Teen campers (entering grade 10 and above) are not required to volunteer, but are welcome and encouraged to do so. Parents of Senior Teens interested in volunteering at La Semana, please complete the Volunteer Information form on the back of the K-9 Registration form.
