The Teen Parade Returns

By popular demand the La Semana Friday morning Teen Parade is returning to camp next summer. Various interested ayudante teens, currently in grades 10 through 12 are asked to help write the script this winter and spring, coordinate the costumes and music for it and be in the parade next La Semana. We are hoping teens (rather than adults) and perhaps a few alumni will join us to lead the way. The theme of the parade is the same as Specialty this year, which highlights the African Influence in Latin America.

Teens will meet on the same days as the dance troop and at the same location which is Diamond Lake Lutheran Church, 5760 Portland Ave. So., Minneapolis (see directions below). The meetings will be from 2:00 to 3:15 pm Sunday afternoons in 2008. Teens can decide if further dates are needed to meet after March.

Teens who do not wish to help in advance, but would like to perform on Friday morning, August 1 in the parade, should sign up for the Teen Parade class on the La Semana Camp Teen Registration. (Please note that Ayudantes and not junior teens are doing the parade this year.)The forms should be on the La Semana Website at the end of January 08. This is a great chance to see other Ayudantes during the year while helping our camp! Hope to see you there.

Directions to Diamond Lake Lutheran Church:
FROM CROSSTOWN HWY. 62, exit at Portland Ave. and go North on Portland Ave. The church is on the left hand side of Portland. If you get to Diamond Lake Road or Pearl Park, you have gone too far.

FROM 35W, exit at 46th Street, and go East on 46th Street until Portland Ave. Take a right on Portland (heading South). DLLC will be on the right hand side of Portland, just past Diamond Lake.

Future Teen Events - There was a suggestion to have a snowboarding event in February and maybe a community service event in the spring. Please contact Sherry Stern if you are willing to organize these or another PLAC Teen Event at (952) 471-0646 or SLstern99@aol.com. Thanks!
